Esteli

It is a cool city situated on a valley between mountains. Tobacco is the main product in this area.

Currently it is considered one of the best cigars worldwide. The most important festivity in Esteli is “El Hipico” a local celebration that gathers hundreds of pure blood horses. La Casa de la Cultura (Culture’s House) is an interesting place to visit, to learn about the local culture.

El Salto de la Estanzuela is an interesting and beautiful waterfall that awaits for you at only 5 Km. From the city and afterwards you should visit El Bosque located 20 Km south of Pueblo Nuevo. In this natural surrounding you can see birds and animal fossils as well as Petroglyphs dated 30,000 years old, one of the oldest evidences of mankind in Central America.

Finally take a trip to San Juan de Limay, a little town, in order to see how the local craftsmen produce sculptures using a unique stone known as Piedra de Limay.
